William D.B. Olafsen, ASID
William D. B. Olafsen received a B.A. from Beloit College, Beloit, Wisconsin. In addition, he holds a B.F.A. from California College of the Arts, San Francisco, California, in Environmental and Interior Design. His specialized education includes study with the Institute of Human Environment, Florence, Italy, as well as with architects and designers in Bergamo, Como, Milan, Venice, and Zurich. Other research includes the design of country houses and urban architecture in England, Ireland, and France and studies in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
Experienced in residential and commercial design, Mr. Olafsen's installations include art galleries, theaters, restaurants, retail stores, corporate offices, hair salons, health clubs and spas, automotive dealerships, senior living facilities and historic structures. Mr. Olafsen began his career with Bruce Gregga Interiors, Chicago, as Director of Design Development. During his tenure there, he oversaw projects throughout the United States. He then founded Olafsen-Schreiber Design Consultants. Through the duration of that partnership he continued to pursue independent projects and currently devotes his time to Olafsen Design Group, Ltd. and the subsidiary OlafsenDesignOnline.com. Mr. Olafsen is a Professional Member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), and is registered with the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation.
